UAE Digital Attestation for UK Documents

How to Get UK Documents Digitally Attested for UAE (2025 Update)

UAE Adopts Digital Attestation for UK Documents — New 2025 Procedures

As of 24 February 2025, the UAE has modernised its attestation approach for UK documents. In partnership with the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the UAE Embassy in London now issues digitally attested PDFs instead of physical ink stamps or stickers. This shift enhances processing efficiency and document security — and allows verification online.

What Happens to Your Documents?

  1. Your document must first receive a UK Apostille from the FCDO (in physical form, as e‑Apostilles are not currently accepted)
  2. Submit the apostilled document to the UAE Embassy in London.
  3. The embassy scans your document, embeds a digital attestation, and sends you a PDF version by email.
  4. Your original paper document, with the Apostille intact, is returned to you via courier.
  5. The digital PDF can be checked on the UAE’s official verification portal at verify.mofa.gov.ae using the document’s reference number and issue date.

Key Updates and Considerations

  • No more physical stamps or stickers — your entire attestation will now be delivered electronically.
  • Fees have risen as part of this update; expect higher charges for both personal and commercial document attestation.
  • Bundled submissions are disallowed — each document (with certain company certificate exceptions) must be processed individually.
